About Me

I am a British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) registered counsellor, with a Diploma in Therapeutic counselling for adults and young people.  I trained in an integrative approach, which means I have studied a variety of different types of counselling and therapy, which I bring together in my work.

My core approach is from the humanistic model which recognises the importance of free will and self-discovery as a path to achieving your full potential as an individual.

I believe that in telling your story and reflecting on your feelings you can bring about change and live a fuller and happier life.

I chose to retrain as a counsellor after a career break whilst raising my children.  Previously I worked as a teacher and also in hospitality.  I spent several years living and working abroad, broadening my experience and understanding of people.

Since qualifying as a counsellor in 2021 I have worked in several different settings, gaining valuable experience and knowledge.  I work with adults of all ages and young people (age 12 and over).

One of these roles has been supporting male and female survivors of sexual violence, working with the trauma and impact of both current and historical abuse.  Through this work I have continued to seek further training in working with trauma.

Also, working in a Community Wellbeing Hub I have met clients with a wider range of presenting issues.  This has included people struggling with grief, clients who feel depressed and people suffering with the debilitating effects of anxiety.

In both of these settings I have met clients who describe themselves as neurodiverse - some have diagnoses such as ADHD or Autism, others are in the process of questioning whether they should seek diagnosis.   This has prompted  me to learn more about neurodiversity and I am passionate about supporting individuals who want to explore this.

"Connection is the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship."
